TEHRAN — The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) is to receive twenty new drilling rigs, Heidar Bahmani, the managing director of the company said here on Saturday.

Iran can manufacture drilling rigs, but it has to import certain machineries and parts from other countries, Bahmani told reporters.

Speaking about whether or not NIDC would participate in the development project of Azadegan Oilfield in southern Iran, the official stated that NIDC has thus far drilled 2,400 wells, “Therefore, it has gained adequate experience for developing the field,” he added.
